Although Van is most at home at the ranch, he has built a very distinguished career in the courtroom. He was listed in Woodward White, Inc's 2013 edition of Best Lawyers in America and has tried hundreds of jury trials throughout his career. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and holds certifications in both civil and personal injury trial law.
In 2014, Super Lawyers, a Thompson Reuters service, recognized Eric as a Rising Star in civil litigation. His background includes both a broad range of cases and a unique level of cultural awareness. Eric is fluent in Russian and spent a year living in Moscow before completing his education at the University of Houston School of Law.
Before attending law school, John served in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to assist with Operation Iraqi Freedom. This experience shaped his perspective in a fundamental way and strengthened his innate calling to advocate for those in need.
John is passionate about helping the people of his city. John was born and raised in Michigan, but once he moved to South Texas, he fell in love with the community. He has since served as an officer in the Corpus Christi Young Lawyers Association and is an active member of the local bar.
There are many attorneys in Houston and San Antonio that serve the Corpus Christi area, but few know the city like locals. We are different — Corpus Christi is our home. This is where we live and work. We understand the residents, and we understand the culture.
Please do not overlook the value of local knowledge. When you’re searching for counsel, consider the fact that local attorneys such as ourselves have a certain home field advantage. We have worked with the judges in the area and know how they think. This can serve you well in the courtroom
We understand that a case can impact various areas of your life. When you partner with us, we don’t simply look at the facts — we look at the full picture just as we would if the situation were our own. We tackle disputes from the ground up and strive to bring normalcy back to your life as a whole.
Many assume that trial will be taxing, but our experience has taught us how to be proactive and objective rather than reactive. We strive to eliminate as much stress as possible for our clients, and they take comfort in our seasoned approach.
Facts are facts, and if you look at the numbers, it’s clear that we try more cases than any of our direct peers. We know what to expect in the courtroom, and we’ve had time to hone our strategies and tactic. When the opposing counsel sees our firm, they know they’re up against a challenge.
Helping your clients as well as ours
The highest form of honor we can be given is when you trust us to handle a client of your own
It’s truly an honor when other attorneys and professionals respect the work we do and send their clients our way, and we never forget that. If your client needs local counsel or support outside your areas of practice, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team.
There’s one ingredient that makes or breaks a case, and that’s creativity. A good trial attorney is a resourceful and expert problem solver, and those are exactly the traits we’ve tailored our firm to embody. When a case is brought to us, we work tirelessly to resolve it — no excuses. That means nothing is off limits. We aren’t unethical or uncouth, but we are relentless in our strategy and preparation. As the best innovators know, novel ideas are sparked from avid research, and we’ve become extremely efficient at gathering data to draw conclusions from.
And we do all of this for far less than most other firms.
The strongest advantage we have is a solid reputation without the big firm price. We do the work of a much larger firm and get the same results, and other professionals and clients alike have taken notice. Although we could charge more based on our performance and experience, we don’t believe in putting a price tag on quality.
